Scholarship Soap Box – Part 2

Posted in Scholarships at 8:31 AM by Joe From Boston

For those of you who missed part 1, you can read it at https://parentstudentloans.wordpress.com/2007/09/17/scholarship-soap-box-part-1/

“But scholarships are so hard to find”, you say.

Oh, please. If you’re reading this you can use the internet – and you can find scholarships!

  • Search Engines. What about Google? Yahoo? MSN? Ask? Or any other search engine you might use. This is 2007, not 1987 – scholarship information is just a click away. Use these search engine to try and find scholarships that fit your needs
  • Scholarship Search Tools. You are not the first to try and find scholarships. Nor will you be the last. Someone else is probably already looking for what you’re looking for, and documenting it! Use search tools like www.StudentScholarshipSearch.com – a free tool that allows you to search through millions of dollars worth of scholarships
  • Scholarship Drawings. Want even more options? Join programs like www.ScholarshipPoints.com that hold random drawings for scholarship every month. Fulfill their requirements and you’re automatically entered in the drawing.

Now the caveats – remember to never pay anyone to search for scholarships for you. You’re just throwing your money away, as you can easily do it all yourself.

Look – even Tylenol, the pain medicine company, has a scholarship.  So we’re talking multi-national corporations right down to your local town funds.  The money is there, you just have to look.

With scholarships, you’ll only win as much money as you apply for. It is completely dependent on YOU. This is the part of the financial aid process that you (and only you) have complete control of. If you never apply, you’ll never win.

Thank you for listening – I’m putting away the soap box.
