Senator Pell, famous for Pell Grants, dies at age 90

If you ever were awarded a Pell grant, then you owe a lot to former Rhode Island Senator Claiborne Pell.  He served 6 terms in the senate and considered the Pell Grant his greatest achievement.

He served in the Coast Guard during WWII, vehemently opposed the Vietnam War, helped draft the charter for the United Nations and helped create the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities.
